JET Set, stills and video 10″ (2008)
Jet Set was the first project in the series ‘Beach Resorts on North Lebanon.” Composed of both still photography and a video based on a love story, Jet Set was the name of a night club located inside the Tarbarja Beach Resort.
The series was initiated from a 98weeks workshop “The Ruin in the City” with Lara Almarcegui and Cecilia Anderson (September 22 -28, 2008). The workshop explored Lebanon’s pubic spaces that are continually subject to ongoing political conflicts with their development, construction and destruction, being unregulated and unpredictable.
The ruins of the long forgotten entrance, under the signage of the beach resort was my stage, for the project. Richard Mosse who was taking part in the workshop agreed to photograph my cousin and I, re-enacting my memories.
We also shot a short video, with a soundtrack from a song of a band, Slowdive, who I would listen to often in that period. Later, I created a spread in a magazine that was published by 98 weeks with these pictures and text from my old diary.
