Visages de Femmes (2002) painting series
In 2002, I had already been living in Lebanon for a few years. Visages de Femmes was a painting series that was created through my questioning of the role of the women in a patriarchal country. Drawing more than 1000 portraits of women in black & white, I attempted to build up a feminine presence after feeling crushed by the men that were reconstructing the country. Even today, I still wonder what role did women take in the reconstruction of post war Lebanon?
