Vivre sa Vie; paintings and publication (2006)<\/p>

In 2006, I worked on Vivre sa Vie, a series of paintings and a publication, that was one of the last exhibitions at Espace SD (1999-2006).\u00a0<\/p>

Vivre sa Vie is a visual reinterpretation of cinema’s notion of passion. All of the films I chose had a common story line where the protagonist carries their love to an extreme, even to possible death. Inspired and in parallel with, my own impossible story of love.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Qui peut dire la trace que le cin\u00e9ma laissera en nous ? Qui sait d’avance \u00e0 quoi ressemblera
cette trace ? \u00e0 un baiser ou \u00e0 une cicatrice ? Les films se d\u00e9posent si doucement sur nos paupi\u00e8res qu’on ne les sent pas toujours s’inscrire. Nous vivons un r\u00eave. Il n’y a pas de choc, ce n’est pas vrai, sinon l’impact d’une image, d’une s\u00e9quence, d’une phrase interromprait son d\u00e9filement, du sang coulerait par afflux panique dans notre coeur et des larmes viendraient inonder notre visage ou le ravir de plaisir, on ne verrait plus rien, on ne pourrait plus voir, on tomberait sous le coup d’une \u00e9pilepsie soudaine, ce coup de foudre. Mais l’image ne dit pas l’effet qu’elle est en train de nous faire. Elle continue de faire semblant, de se reproduire sous d’autres images, de changer de peau, de nature, de sons et de signes 24 fois par seconde, exactement comme si de rien n’\u00e9tait. Aimer un film, c’est tomber amoureux d’un secret.<\/p>

Le cin\u00e9ma, quand il s’est donn\u00e9 et quand on l’a re\u00e7u, a chang\u00e9 de nature. Il n’est plus, il ne peut plus \u00eatre, une image en mouvement. C’est pourquoi il fait mine de ne pas voir qu’il a \u00e9t\u00e9 vu, de ne pas entendre la passion que le spectateur, ce commotionn\u00e9 sentimental, lui signifie. Mais pour combien de temps encore, ce semblant d’ignorance ? Une image s’est
cristallis\u00e9e, une image est n\u00e9e d’une autre image, une image s’est retir\u00e9e d’elle m\u00eame du mouvement, un son s’est arrach\u00e9 au continuum. D’elle-m\u00eame? Pourtant, on se souvient \u00eatre venu la chercher, avoir mis nos mains dans le film, plong\u00e9 en son ventre. On est entr\u00e9 dans la salle pour arracher l’image \u00e0 la m\u00e9canique d’entra\u00eenement, repartir avec ce viol l\u00e0, une \u00e9treinte. Si les choses avaient un sens, je m’enfuirais du cin\u00e9ma comme un voleur, avec une image, ou une s\u00e9rie, sous le bras, que je tiendrais serr\u00e9e contre moi. Et cette image manquerait \u00e0 jamais au film, elle y serrait comme un trou. Elle serait \u00e0 moi, et \u00e0 moi seulement. Mon petit f\u00e9tiche. Mon amour. Ma cicatrice. Enfant, Antoine Doinel n’a jamais vol\u00e9 que deux choses : une photo de Monika, prise dans la pl\u00e9nitude z\u00e9nithale de l’\u00eele de Far\u00f6, une photo de Monika en train de jouir du soleil et de sa libert\u00e9, et une machine \u00e0 \u00e9crire. Pour \u00e9crire sur l’image. Pour la rejoindre. Pour aller avec elle : dans le soleil, dans la jouissance.<\/i><\/p>

L’horreur des films, c’est que l’Eden qu’ils nous accordent puisse appartenir \u00e0 d’autres. On les voudrait pour soi. Comment peut-on \u00eatre autant \u00e0 les voir se d\u00e9shabiller devant nous et continuer de croire qu’ils ne l’ont jamais fait que pour nous seuls. Un jour, on ne sait plus pourquoi on \u00e9crit sur les images que l’on aime ou qui nous font mal, pourquoi on en vient \u00e0 les peindre, \u00e0 les coucher sur toile. S\u00fbrement pas pour en avoir le coeur net. Et encore moins pour les poss\u00e9der. On peint et on \u00e9crit pour se rassurer : on n’a rien vu. Il ne s’est rien pass\u00e9 d’autre qu’un dr\u00f4le de moment d’amn\u00e9sie. Voil\u00e0 ce qu’on \u00e9crit et voil\u00e0 ce que l’on peint : notre amn\u00e9sie. On \u00e9crit et on peint le vortex dans nos yeux, quand l’image qui vient d’y entrer d\u00e9j\u00e0 n’y est plus, n’y sera jamais, de passage en nous, agissant \u00e0 sa guise. On \u00e9crit et on peint le passage d’une image en nous. On ne retient rien, on ne retient pas. On \u00e9crit et on peint pour se r\u00e9veiller de ce flou. Mais on n’en sort pas, ce serait si simple, maintenant qu’on a \u00e9crit, maintenant que l’on a peint, une autre image, soeur incertaine de l’image est venue se superposer sur l’image. Elle existe, cette seconde image, pour d\u00e9tacher l’image du r\u00e9cit et pr\u00e9venir (mais pr\u00e9venir qui ?) d’un danger en cours : il y a un ab\u00eeme, un trou, et il nous a aval\u00e9.<\/i><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
